Remotely lockdown/wipe corporate computer when employee terminates? Security.this dude is on a shoe string budget, so he does NOT need a load balancing array and any exotic OS configurations. I choose dell over HP, primarily because the dell stability, but my second thoughts are that the HP systems that have been placed on the market over the past 5 years ALL seem to have some form of a proprietary piece of hardware somewhere in that mix, and I could not be bothered trying to keep their "industry standard" when dealing with a stable system for long duration. the raw ISO from freepbx fires up and runs very nicely. If you KISS, then any dell server will probably work fine, and if you have a source for them at a decent price, dont even bother with the VM idea. There is not a massive load, but you are looking for stability rather than performance. I have been running a 150 extension freebpx for 4 years on a single piece of dell hardware. Second, you are looking at "used" hardware which is fairly inexpensive. the PBX load is not massive, or it would not have run on the PI. Two things that I gleaned from your original post.
